In the Name of the Blogfather…
There is a fun little project happening over at The Politburo Diktat (thanks to UTI for the link). The Commissar is making a family tree of the blogosphere. I had to participate. Here is my entry…
My blog was born in May, 2005.
My blogfather is The Raving Atheist.
Blogchildren (I think):
Kingdom of Heathen
Frank’s Atheistic Ramblings
Think Outside the Church
I hate to be presumptuous, so I only listed blogchildren of which I’m pretty certain. If I am in error on any of these, please go to the site and correct me.

Are you saying you have bastard blogchildren!?

Unapologetic:
I have put forth some seminal ideas into the fertile intellectual space of the internet. Who knows what might have happened?

I was not aware that you were my father. The first seedling of KoH was planted a year ago before I discovered this site, but I’m sure that without you KoH would be a pale immitation of what it is now. I’d be glad to call you dad.

Aeger:
I’m sorry. Since it came together on AtheismOnline (which is partially mine) and it was a bunch of people who frequent this site, I assumed. Please feel free to correct this if you want.

I’m not sure if I was put under you on the family tree because I said so on Pharyngula or you didn’t put me down here but whatever. I consider both you and vjack to be my blogfathers but I don’t think I could put myself under two different blogs. Oh well.

I’m more than happy to give you credit for spawning the church of the Atheist Messiah. I find it interesting the short path I took to find you. I have enjoyed the brief time I’ve had to get to know everyone here and at other blogs. For the little time I’ve been on the net, it has been wonderful. I’m looking forward to doing this for years to come.
I hope your heart condition won’t be a distraction to your work because it would be unfortunate for a star like you to burn out too quickly. Alas, it always seems to happen that way. I hope, at the very least, your physical problems will be a constant reminder of your and our mortality and it will be cause for all of us to try harder to get the most out of life and to give as much as we can in return.

Am I the only one who didn’t think I AM described his heart condition to be extremely serious??? I sorta thought it was serious enough to warrant a lifestyle change of major proportions, but the comments he got on that post, geesh…
Sorry guys, I think most of you are great commenters - but way to make a guy feel… more mortal? I didn’t get the impression he’s any more likely to drop dead tomorrow that he had been. I AM, feel free to correct me if I was wrong. Now I’m more worried about you than I was! Like Atheist Messiah, I’d hate for you to have to take time off.

I saw this at Pharyngula first and missed the fact that you had done it as well. My response was as follows:
This is the second incarnation of Skeptic Rant. The first version was inspired by Blogger in general. The second was inspired by a need to rant about the religious and spiritual digressions of this country over the last few years. In my quest to find a voice for this second iteration, I was heavily influenced by The Evangelical Atheist. We had some comment exchanges early on that drove traffic to my site and encouraged me to write. So, although the decision to blog was my own, I will credit ~I Am~ with really getting me jump started.

I am not aware of inspiring anyone to blog yet, maybe someday.
I thought the heart message was serious but, without details it’s all just speculation. But, hey, some religions are based on less real information then that.
