Your Personality Is

Rational (NT)

You are both logical and creative. You are full of ideas.
You are so rational that you analyze everything. This drives people a little crazy!

Intelligence is important to you. You always like to be around smart people.
In fact, you’re often a little short with people who don’t impress you mentally.

You seem distant to some - but it’s usually because you’re deep in thought.
Those who understand you best are fellow Rationals.

In love, you tend to approach things with logic. You seek a compatible mate - who is also very intelligent.

At work, you tend to gravitate toward idea building careers - like programming, medicine, or academia.

With others, you are very honest and direct. People often can’t take your criticism well.

As far as your looks go, you’re coasting on what you were born with. You think fashion is silly.

On weekends, you spend most of your time thinking, experimenting with new ideas, or learning new things.

You scored as Materialist. Materialism stresses the essence of fundamental particles. Everything that exists is purely physical matter and there is no special force that holds life together. Two things…

Uberkuh, the man publishing an atheist newsletter, is 25% fundamentalist. That’s funny.

Mookie: There’s no such thing as a Libertarian Socialist. That doesn’t make any sense. Socialists want big government. Libertarians want small government.

  7. Aeger Says:

though I don’t particularly agree with that one, but if it’s a quiz it must be right.

  8. Seth Says:

I, too, am you, except for being slightly less liberal and my blog owns me 6 percent less.

  9. I Am Says:

You know, this is why the Christians are opposed to cloning.

  10. Sportin' Life Says:

I’m a big fat socialist (73%, 16%). (I might have said social democrat, but I’ll take it, I guess.)

IAm, this post was totally hilarious in presentation. I don’t know if that was your intent. I just kept scrolling and scrolling and seeing more and more random quizzes. Very nice!

I wanna take the worldview quiz (I’m strongly suspecting materialism and modernism) but I’ll have to save that for later.

  11. DUB Says:

Wow. I sorta feel like I’m trolling for meat on a dating site.

Not that I’m trying to get at any of you (nothing personal - just that y chromosome and all).

Actually it wouldn’t be a bad idea to see things like this on personals.

  12. JJ Says:

Socialist, Mother Theresa ?? (Mother Jones, maybe), Apocalypse Now, Rationlist, Modernist and Atheist.

And, Libertarian Socialist is one of the many forms of Anarchism (think Anarcho-Syndicalism). It’s actually more of where I would place myself, but who can argue with an internet quiz?

  13. DUB Says:

I got to the world view test, answered the LAST question, and my browser (Firefox) crashed. Fuck this.

I was copy & pasting my results to a blog post and didn’t bother saving it. So I don’t remember my exact answers.

I was some kind of Democrat (my “you” icon was almost at socialism).

I was Ghandi (Ghandi was a racist, by the way).

I was Sunset Boulevard (WTF is that, and what does it say about me?!)

The “Three Question Personality Test” is bunk.

I’m going to go jump off the house now.

  14. LBBP Says:

Social Moderate (55%) - I am OK with that.

Economic Liberal (18%) - I wouldn’t have guessed that, but OK.

The rest of the tests says it all though: Saddam, Godfather, Guardian, Modernist and Atheist.
Who can argue with a three question test? But fun.

DUB: Sunset Blvd is one of the classics of the Film Noir genre. Slow and dark, naturalistic, twisted stories (they are often crime stories) where there are no heroes and everyone is jaded. This one features a has-been silent film actress and a never-was script-writer and some dead bodies.

I did the world-view quiz, came out as a Materialist:
    Modernist 75%
    Existentialist 75%
    Materialist 75%
    Postmodernist 56%
    Cultural Creative 38%
    Romanticist 31%
    Idealist 19%
    Fundamentalist 13%

I’m not sure why I came out so high on the Existentialist; I find existenitalism to be crap, a very immature humanism. I’m surprised I wasn’t higher on the PoMo to; though I guess I don’t go in for the anti-science aspect.

I have a great respect for the What Classic Movie Are You? quiz as my result was Apocalypse Now, which is my favorite movie. “You are a rogue wanderer on the winding river of life, searching after your shadow self.”

I tried to take the Three Question Personality test but I couldn’t answer any of the questions. I think that says something about my personality.

  24. addict_no_more Says:

Damn, the Leader test said I was Hitler! HITLER, people!

I was none too pleased about this, but my husband’s amused. Why is this funny? I changed a couple of questions I’d been wavering on and came back as Abe Lincoln.

Uh, wow. That’s better. Quite a change… weird. I retook a shorter version of the test this morning (yes, I was letting a lame online test drive me crazy) and there were several different questions. I came back as Abe again.

So maybe I’m not some sort of reincarnation of Hitler. Woosh.

Oh, and I’m an Idealist. This is probably generally true. My husband seemed to find this amusing as well. He also says it’s 100% true… eh, maybe.

Oh, and I AM, I’m also Platoon. How about that?

I’m a Modernist, 94%. The second place went to Materialist, at about 81%.

This was a fun post… kept me entertained for a while :).

  25. addict_no_more Says:

Hey, I Am… what should you be for Halloween?

It first said I should be Elvis. I’d be a terrible Elvis, aside from the problem of breasts. So I changed the three questions where I’d wavered between two answers, and it determined I should be a mental patient.

And here I thought this was for a costume idea. :P

  29. Mookie Says:

Being libertarian or an ubercapitalist is a lot like being religious; worshipping invisible hands, having faith in the market, etc. A total disregard of facts and reality. A “system” based on greed and a Hobbesian view of humanity is just as bad as religion.

  30. I Am Says:

    Mookie:

Please explain the difference between natural selection and market forces and why you accept one and reject the other.

  31. Mookie Says:

Demand is artificial. For a factory to make money, it must sell its products. To help do this, it manufactures demand. If you want to see market forces at work, turn on the TV and watch the ads. There is nothing natural about market forces. What happens in the market is the result of individual wills, individual desires, all coming together in what appears to be a “natural” system. Natural selection is a response to conditions, without planning or foresight. Big difference.

I reject capitalism because it based on bad logic: every man for himself, actions exist in a vacuum. No man is an island, and our actions today have consequences tomorrow. This Hobbesian/Randian take on things goes against what humans evolved to be, i.e., part of integrated communities where each member is responsible in some small way for the well-being of every other member. Many of the ills in our society and in the world today can be attributed to capitalism (wars, poverty, crime, pollution, etc.), which is just a manifestation of greed.

I consider myself a “libertarian socialist” because I recognise a few things. 1) Power structures use their power to maintain and grab more power. This goes for governments as well as economic institutions. It is foolish and a bit naive to believe that the government and the economy are two separate and opposing entities. Big government is a result of big business, and vice versa. One cannot exist without the other. 2) The only way to limit power is to have everyone as equal as possible. I liken this to the shape of a beehive, where all the cells are more or less of equal dimensions, no one dominating over any other. (Please do not assume from this analogy that humans must be like bees or mindless drones in order for socialism to work.) 3) The interests of the individual are best realised when people are working together. A single person cannot build roads or airports or hospitals. I read an article online recently about traffic patterns that is somewhat analogous to and debunks this idea that everyone climbing over others actually makes it better for all. Drivers seeking to get ahead by constantly changing lanes were actually contributing to traffic jams, because drivers behind them would have to brake and adjust, and so it went all down the line. 4) The sum total of human endeavour ultimately goes to making rich people richer, not to the betterment of society as a whole.

The common aversion to socialism/communism does not help poor or disenfranchised people, it helps those who wield and wish to maintain their power. What they teach in American schools regarding communism and socialism is based a lot on 1984 and Animal Farm. Both well-written, and with a good intent, but not quite a good summation of what these systems represent. Those who claim that socialism/communism does not, or cannot work forget that for most of human history, we have lived in egalitarian “communes”, also known as “primitive communism”. I must note here that the nations claiming to be “communists” are quite a long way from actually being so. I refer folks to a previous revolution that went terribly wrong, and ended up with a dictator: the French Revolution. At that time monarchs and nobles no doubt claimed that this was the inevitable result of a democracy, and so it must be a dead-end, all to maintain their power.

I was much into emulating Albert Einstein, and found out that he was a socialist. I decided to look into it and found that it made a whole lot of sense to me. In a nutshell, socialism is a democratic system by, of, and for the people. Communism is the end result of socialism, and is actually the state “withering away”; which is, ironically, the professed goal of the libertarian. If it is not democratic in nature, it is not socialism/communism. So, when I say I am a libertarian, I mean that I understand that power is used to maintain and seek more power, and so therefore must be limited. When I say I am socialist, I mean that if we are to do things, we should do them for the betterment of society, with specific goals and restrictions in mind, which ultimately betters the life of the individual.

You don’t have to agree with me, but at least now you understand where I’m coming from. Hope that helps.

  32. I Am Says:

    Mookie:

I understand your position much better now. Thank you.

I can’t begin to express how strongly I disagree with you, but I really don’t have the time or inclination to get into a political argument. I have my hands full with god at the moment. When he’s gone, I’ll take on the socialists.
